On 12 May 2016 the Queensland Parliament passed the Government's suite of planning reform legislation. The replacement legislation includes:
- The Planning Act
- The Planning and Environment Court Act
- The Planning (Consequential) and Other Legislation Act.
The new legislation will commence in 2017 and aims to create a contemporary framework for delivering planning and development across Queensland. The Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning is currently preparing a suite of material to help Queenslanders understand the new system and what it means to them. This information will be available from July, so keep an eye on the "Better Planning for Queensland" site as support materials come online.
